BackgroundBeverly Cutter, a consultant with over 25 years of senior-level experience in development and university relations, has a broad understanding of fund raising in the higher education environment. As vice chancellor for university relations at the University of North Carolina at Asheville from 1989 to 2002, she oversaw gift planning and endowments, alumni relations, media relations and publications, community leadership programs, the Family Business Forum and management of the UNCA Foundation. In 2001, UNC Asheville received the CASE Circle of Excellence in Educational Fund Raising Award. Prior to UNC Asheville, Beverly was assistant dean for the development UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law, director of development for the UNC-Chapel Hill National Child Welfare Leadership Center, and coordinator of special programs at Duke University. She has served on the District III (Southeastern region) Board of Directors of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and is an active member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). In 1995, Beverly was named Outstanding Executive Manager among city, county, state, and federal agencies in the Asheville area. Her numerous community and civic activities include membership on the Community Advisory Committees of the Western North Carolina Community Foundation and of Branch Banking and Trust Company, and the boards of directors of the Lewis Rathbun Center (a hospital hospitality house in Asheville), American Red Cross, Diana Wortham Theatre and Gordon H. Greenwood Fund. She also is a member of the Sister Cities organization in Asheville and has served on the boards of directors of the Carolina Day School and the Arts Alliance, as well as the United Way Campaign Cabinet.
